On May 2, 1921, Satyajit Ray was born in Kolkata, formerly called Calcutta, India. He was a Bengali motion picture director, screenwriter, and illustrator. Ray passed away on April 23, 1992, in Kolkata. Some of the best Satyajit Ray Movies are Aranyer Din Ratri (1970), Pather Panchali (1955), Apur Sansar (1959), Mahanagar (1963), Agantuk (1991), Devi (1960), and many more.

Anurag Kashyap was born on 10 September 1972, to a Rajput family in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. His works include Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), The Lunchbox (2013), Dev.D (2009), Black Friday (2004), Gulaal (2009), Ugly (2013), and more.


Anurag Kashyap has been honoured with many awards. His movie “Gangs of Wasseypur” won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Film and IIFA Award for Best Dialogue. "The Lunchbox" was nominated for best film, not in the English language- a BAFTA Award, “Dev.D” won the Guild Award for Best Dialogue.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali was born on 24 February 1963. He was raised in a chawl very close to Kamathipura–the red-light area of Mumbai. Karan Johar, also known as KJo in Bollywood, was born initially as Rahul Kumar Johar on 25 May 1972. Through his own production house, Dharma Productions, he has launched several successful actors. Yash Raj Chopra, an Indian Movie Director and Producer was born on 27 September 1932 in Lahore, Punjab Province, British India. He was diagnosed with Dengue virus on 13 October 2012 and passed away on 21 October due to multiple organ failure.


The late Yash Chopra founded YRF (Yash Raj Films) in 1970. YRF is a leading Bollywood Production Company known for the finest of Hindi Cinema. His best works include Deewaar (1975), Veer Zaara (2004), Kabhie Kabhie (1976), Darr (1993), Dil Toh Pagal Hai (1991), Chandni (1989), and more. 


The Government of India honoured him with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2001 and Padma Bhushan in 2005 for his achievement in the cinema. British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented him with a lifetime membership, making him the first Indian to receive the accolade.


  1. S.S. Rajamouli


S.S. Rajamouli was born on 10 October 1973 in Amareshwara Camp. His notable works include Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017), RRR (2022), Student No.1 (2001), Sye (2004), and so much more.


Rajamouli has won several prestigious awards, including three National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards South, and five State Nandi Awards. Furthermore, Baahubali: The Beginning was recognized as the Best Feature Film at the 63rd National Film Awards, making it the first Telugu movie to ever receive this honour.


  1. Prashanth Neel


Prashanth Neelakantapuram was born on June 4, 1980, in a Telugu household located in the state of Karnataka. He started his career with the Kannada movie Ugramm (2014), later he directed a cinematic masterpiece – a two-part series of films named K.G.F: Chapter 1 (2018) and K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022). These films quickly became the highest-grossing Kannada film and were a big hit all over India as well.


Prashanth Neel won the award 4th South Indian International Movie Awards for the Best Debutant Director for the movie Ugramm. He also received the 8th South Indian International Movie Awards and Zee Kannada Hemmeya Kannadiga Awards for Best Director for K.G.F: Chapter 1.
